Fawlty Towers

By John Cleese and Connie Booth

Directed by Dwayne Campbell

The hysterically funny BBC comedy series comes to life on stage with Vagabond Players first production of the New Year. Set in a hotel in the seaside town of Torquay, Fawlty Towers is guaranteed to have audiences rolling in the aisles. The interplay between Basil Fawlty and his bossy wife, Sybil, provides much of the fun. Add in Polly, the chambermaid, the hapless Spanish waiter, Manuel, and an assortment of eccentric guests, and the farcical situations are irresistible.

Vagabond’s production includes three of the most popular episodes in the series. In A Touch Of Class, Basil tries to raise the tone of the hotel when the aristocratic Lord Melbury comes to stay, but, in typically Fawlty fashion, manages to offend everyone else who is staying there. In The Hotel Inspectors, the news that the inspectors are in town creates a hilarious state of panic and confusion; then Communication Problems brings the "guest from hell" as the cantankerous Mrs. Richards interferes with Basil's attempts to prevent the money he won on a racehorse from being discovered by his disapproving, eagle-eyed wife.

The cast includes Ryan J. Johnson as Basil, Tammy Theis as Sybil, William Valenzuela as Manuel, Jodie Wilson-Smith as Polly, Kathleen Driscoll as the “guest from hell”, and a host of stellar performers playing the various guests who inhabit the hotel. So make your reservations for a visit to Fawlty Towers and be sure not to miss this laugh-filled production.
